I often find myself the center of discussion when guests of parties or dinners discover what I do for a living. As people ask questions and tell me how interesting my line of work is – and me along with it – I begin to think the same thing. Gee, I guess I am pretty interesting.

But then I get humbled by someone else’s story. Not too long ago, we did some work for a client and while we loaded the truck she took time to tell us about her life. She is a Brit who met an American aviator during World War II. They fell in love and soon after got married. He was tragically killed over Germany during a bombing raid. A year later she met another American. There was a familiarity to this handsome Yank and they got along great and so subsequently fell in love again. They too married and started a life together. They survived the war and relocated to the United States where they started a family and a successful automobile business. He continued to fly later in life and performed acrobatic barnstorming stunts in air shows across the country. The walls were covered photos of the two them and their kids and grandkids, starting from World War II to the 1990s. Who was the handsome gentleman that caught her eye and became her second husband that she felt she had always known? The twin brother of her late first husband.

Just when you think you are the most interesting person in the room you get a reality check and find there are always people more interesting!
